Pickleball Training

As we all know, practice makes perfect, and that's why we're gradually giving you exercises that you can use in your training. These exercises, or drills, are very important for improving your game. I often see in clubs that you warm up for 5 minutes and then start playing a match straight away. That's understandable, because playing for points is usually more fun than just practicing. But you have more ball contact during the exercises, and by specifically practicing the game situations, you often get better and more successful more quickly. I recommend practicing for at least 30 minutes before you start the match.

PICKLEBALL EXERCISES

#1 Short/Short - Dinking Exercise

  • This exercise is about giving the ball a certain direction when playing short/short. To do this, we place colored cones on one side of the net. We can also place colored plastic/paper overlays on the floor. Player 2 hits the first ball and then tells player 1 which color he should play.
  • The learning effect should be to give the ball a certain direction in order to get your opponent moving and force them to make mistakes. Many players just play the ball over the net in short/short without any tactical consideration. But we should also try to perhaps unbalance the opponent in this more defensive game or force them back or reach gaps.
